Frequently asked questions

Is Remarque really free?

Yes. Remarque is a free download on the Mac App Store, with no subscription and no account.

Does Remarque need an internet connection?

No. Everything (editing, math, diagrams and every export format) works entirely offline. Remarque makes no outbound network connections.

Where are my documents stored?

Wherever you save them. Remarque works with plain .md files, so they open in any other editor, sync with any service you choose, and back up with Time Machine like any other file.

Which Macs does Remarque run on?

Any Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Can I get my writing into Word or onto an e-reader?

Yes. Export to Word (DOCX), PDF, EPUB, HTML, RTF, LaTeX or slides. What you see in the preview is what you get in the export.
